East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager, Shri Manoj Sharma, inspected the under construction rail line section between Sonepur and Boudh of ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project, recently. Senior officials from ECoR headquarters and officials engaged in the construction works of the project along with officials from Sambalpur Railway Division were also present during the inspection.
During the inspection, Shri Sharma reviewed the infrastructure works and advised officials to take necessary steps to ensure completion of works within the target period. Construction of the public centric Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project lies in remote areas and is a part of the closely monitored projects of the Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji.
Out of the total length of 301 Kms of this project, altogether, 152.805 kms rail line work has been commissioned. The Railways has been constructing this line from both the sides, i.e, from Khurda Road and Balangir for early completion of the project. 105.8 Kms from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47 Kms from Balangir to Sonepur have already been completed. About 73 KMs from Sonepur to Purunakatak is expected to be completed within a couple of months. It has also been targeted to complete rest of the stretch, i.e., from Daspalla to Purunakatak, a stretch of 75 Kms is expected to be completed by Dec’2026.
