Bhubaneswar : Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented the budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly yesterday. This is the first full-fledged budget of the BJP after it formed the government in Odisha. In this budget, a total outlay of Rs 2,90,000 crore has been allocated for the financial year 2025-26.
The current budget has seen the government giving more priority to the agriculture sector. Along with some new schemes, education, transportation, sports, health and irrigation have also been presented in the budget presentation.
For the development of agriculture and farmers in Odisha, the state government has prioritized the overall well-being of farmers and in the state budget 2025-26, an allocation of ₹37,838 crore has been made for agriculture and allied sectors, which is about 12% more than the budget of the previous financial year, and a budget of ₹16,273 crore has been made for irrigation and flood control. An allocation of ₹39,221 crore has been made for rural development, which is 13.5% of the total budget.
While the education sector has been allocated ₹41,273 crore, the women and child development sector has been allocated ₹17,998 crore, of which ₹10,145 crore has been allocated for Subhadra Yojana and ₹492 crore for Mamata and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The urban development sector has been allocated ₹9,985 crore.
